IS IT JUST ME?

I wish this couple all God's Blessings on their recent marriage...and, I do find the video fun...even, as I happily note it was not done in a Catholic Church...BUT, I can't help thinking this performance would have been better suited as the entrance to the reception...rather than the entrance in a church! Am I out of line?

  1. Okay first off: Not your place to judge anyone.

Secondly, since when does faith and spirituality have to be ONLY solemn and serious. To me the greatest expression of God/Spirit is the joyful expression of love.

Do you really think God wants us to mourn our faith? We are meant to feel great joy and gratitude in our faith and in every moment of our lives.

I just don't understand how you can have a problem with such a memorable, joyous and love filled start to a marriage. And it isn't your place to say what is right or wrong for their start or to judge it.

  2. I appreciate your comment and guess my old-time Catholic faith and just plain-old...old age are showing.

I do agree that we should be happy and joyous as we abound in God's love and mercy.

However, it is my job, my ministry, and my vocation to teach the Catholic faith. That said, everything on this site is brought to you through the lens of that faith.

Now, before I am blasted for being non- ecumenical...I will state right here that I am not a fan of liturgical dance...(which this video certainly was not depicting)...even as practiced in the Catholic religon...it distracts me from my worship, rather than enhance it.

    Just not my thing.

That is not a judgment...just a personal acknowledgment of what does and does not bring ME closer to God.

As a Catholic, the sanctuary is of significant importance to me. It is there, in the Catholic Church, that Christ is truly present in Word, Sacrament and Deed. Before I ever cross the threshold, I bow to my Lord, who is at all times present in the Tabernacle.

To enter into the sanctuary in a reverent manner is not to say I "mourn our faith" but rather, that I defer to the Almighty, and show Him the respect I strive to show Him in all aspects of my life. This is also the stance we try to teach the children.

It is my opinion (again, not judgment...just my view of things) that those entering into the solemn vows of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony might be better served celebrating the union of man, woman, and God at the ceremony with a sense of seriousness about the new life they are beginning...rather than man, woman, and Chris Brown, doing somersaults down the aisle.

We may have to agree to disagree on this one...or you can just call me an old fuddy duddy...I just think that there is a time and a place for everything...and even though God rejoices in our happiness...we should not take his love and mercy for granted, by neglecting to offer Him our reverence and respect, as we ask His blessing upon us. :)

  3. I had the same thought when I first saw this~great idea but perhaps better suited for the entrance to the reception.
